6 Reasons Why should housewives learn digital marketing?

Jyothi, one of my childhood friends, we studied together and after competing graduation, we all headed to words searching our career. I went ahead further to do my masters and one fine day I was talking to Jyothi, she gave news about her marriage and due to her family situation, she was not allowed to work. Now she is a fulltime housewife.

Years passed by and now almost after 20 years, still she feels the pain of being just a housewife, feel the pain of being recognized only as someone’s daughter, someone’s wife and someone’s mother. Sometimes she feels lost because of her incapability of contributing her family financially. As she is “DEPENDENT” for every tiny thing which is shattering her throughout the day and takes away her mental peace along.

But, now I could see a spark in her eyes, she is willing to go out of the house and start earning, not because she wants to make money, but wants to gain back her confidence and remove the tag of being dependent.

The idea of being independent and starting a career is good, but what to do? what career options she can opt for.

No work experience she carries, no exclusive skillsets she has. She told one day that, she knows MS Office Version 98. Now we are in 2020.

There is a humongous change in the application, then she decided to take the basic to advanced Computer application course. I just probed and asked what all they would be teaching in this 6-month course.
She says, complete MS Office, JAVA, web design, programming C language, and so many other things.

I just asked her, how JAVA and C language is going to help you? Are you going to get into the Software engineering line? She said no…then said… I don’t know all these things.

Then I told her to take the focused approach. Like what work you think you can do basis your expertise, interest, hobby, passion, etc… She said… an Office Admin job would be more suitable. I said good, now go ahead and search for jobs in office admin and look at the job description and identify all the things they expect you to know.

The basis that you go and learn the things required for you to start your career. Simultaneously keep on learning other things that might be needed at your workplace. In this way, you could be able to move ahead to level 1 stage of your career.

And I’m sure from there, you won’t be looking back and you can find our path.

She was finding this solution more convincing and targeted. Then she said thanks to me and kept on talking, and asked what I do?

I said I do training & coaching on Digital Marketing. Helping individuals and working professionals to learn digital marketing.

Then She asked me…Can she do the course in Digital marketing? I was silent for a moment and said of course that would be good.

She asked me what is Digital Marketing? I told her about the basic definition of digital marketing,” Digital marketing is the component of marketing that utilizes the internet and online-based digital technologies such as desktop computers, mobile phones and other digital media and platforms to promote products and services.”

I told her with examples of Myntra, Jabong, Flipkart, and any other business whose ads you see them on Facebook, Instagram, Google these all are the forms of digital marketing. These companies are using the power of the internet to market their products on Different digital media platforms.

She asked me, is it tough?, I said yes it is, but not as tough as making round chapati’s 😊

I said it’s not tough, but with dedication and regular efforts every day for about 2-3 hours, you will learn and do it better in 3-4 months.

She was smiling 😊

Then she asked me another great question. She asked… Can I do something of my own? And I said this is what I want you to do. Start something of your own, I’m sure within 20 years of your time at home, you might have developed some great skill or hobby. Your friends always remember you for that. DO that work as your online business.

She was listening to me very carefully, then said can you give me all the possibilities and options I can do after doing this course.

I said I’m going to write a blog on this, here it is.

1. Investment is super low

My father always used to say, investment in education never goes bad, you always get it back. Digital Marketing training might cost you somewhere between 20000/- to Rs 80,000/-. Nowadays freelancing is very common, its win-win situation for the companies and startups to give the work to freelancers at lower cost and freelancers also get the opportunity to earn decent money working for various clients at a time.

If you have seen the success of Flipkart, Amazon, Myntra and you too would be having the wish to start your own. But you do not want to invest in production and shipping, then dropshipping is best for you. You could start your own niche eCommerce business using the dropshipping model.

Finally, Jyothi decided to pursue Digital Marketing with me at strategyworks. This is her 2nd month going on … the best thing is that she made her hobby of cake baking as her business. Her website is ready and doing very well.
